When there’s a will there’s a way. At the turn of the millennium a couple recent high school graduates decided to build a camper and tour their native country Japan. It was a DIY project all the way, as they toiled for two years, learning as they built out this masterpiece of efficiency. Passion and determination yielded this beautiful piece of machinery and comfort. The camper opens up to provide space for an upstairs sleeping area roughly four tatami mats in size. Complete with a kitchen space and bathroom, their road trip was truly down to the basics.
The interior is as utilitarian as they come. Stairs built out of cupboards and a tiny bathroom space which utilizes corner windows to increase the feeling of the space. I recommend perusing their website for images of the interior and details of their trip round Japan.
